About This Service

Replace just the glass, not the whole window

Glass breaks. A baseball, a slammed door, a branch during a winter storm. When it happens, most homeowners assume they need to buy a whole new window. They usually don't. If the frame is still solid, we can replace just the glass, and that's what Solano Glass has been doing for Fairfield homeowners since 1966.

Foggy dual-pane glass is a different problem with the same solution. When the seal between the panes fails, moisture gets trapped and the window looks smudgy from the inside out. No amount of cleaning will take it off. We pull the failed glass unit and install a new one inside your existing frame. Your trim stays, your paint stays, your window stays.

We keep common residential sizes in stock at the shop, so most calls go out same-day or the next morning. Tempered, Low-E, and custom-shaped pieces take three to five business days to come in, and we schedule installation the moment it lands. If the opening isn't safe to leave open overnight, we'll board it up the same day you call.

What We Replace

Glass we replace in Solano County homes

Single & Dual-Pane Replacement

Broken residential window glass, cut to size and installed in your existing frame. Most standard sizes go out same-day.

Foggy Glass Repair

Failed seals on dual-pane windows get fixed by replacing just the insulated glass unit. Your frame, trim, and paint all stay put.

Tempered Safety Glass

California code calls for tempered glass near doors, around stairs, in low windows, and inside shower enclosures. We know where it's required and order it in the right thickness and cut.

Emergency Board-Up

Window smashed from a break-in, an accident, or bad weather? We'll board up the opening the same day you call, then come back to install the new glass when it's ready.

3

We get the glass

Standard sizes are cut in our shop the same day you approve the quote. Tempered and custom pieces are ordered from our supplier and usually arrive in three to five business days.

4

Install day

We set the new glass, seal it, and wipe it clean. The broken glass and packaging go with us. You go back to your day.

FAQs

Glass replacement questions

My window is broken. Can you replace just the glass?
Usually yes. If the frame is still solid, we pull the broken pane, clean the opening, and fit a new piece of glass cut to size. That's faster and cheaper than replacing the whole window. If the frame needs work too, we'll say so up front.
What causes foggy glass between the panes, and can it be fixed?
Dual-pane windows have a sealed gas fill between the two sheets of glass. When that seal goes, moisture gets in and no amount of cleaning will take the haze off. The fix is replacing the insulated glass unit inside your existing frame. The window stays where it is.
How fast can you replace a broken window?
Most standard residential sizes go same-day or next morning since we keep those in stock. Tempered, Low-E, or odd-shaped glass takes three to five business days to come in. If the opening isn't safe to leave open overnight, we'll board it up the same day you call.
Do you replace tempered (safety) glass?
Yes. California code calls for tempered glass in specific spots: near doors, in shower enclosures, around stairs, and in large windows close to the floor. We know where code requires it and order it in the right thickness and cut. We don't sub in regular glass for those spots.
How much does glass replacement cost?
A single-pane residential replacement usually runs $150 to $400 installed, depending on size. Insulated dual-pane units run more because each one is custom-fabricated. You get a firm written quote before we start any work. That's the number.
